What is breast lift surgery?
AÂ breast lift in Manchester removes saggy skin, re-positions your nipple, and boosts your bust. Many women choose to undergo this surgery after losing a significant amount of weight, post-pregnancy and breastfeeding or because they feel self-conscious about saggy or flat breasts.
A boob lift in Manchester restores perkiness to your breasts and restores contour, size and shape for boosted confidence and self-image.
Breast lift surgery, otherwise known as breast mastopexy, in Manchester is a surgical procedure to lift drooping breasts. Excess skin is removed and your breast tissue is reshaped for a firmer, perkier bust.
If you want a boob lift in Manchester, contact Breast & Body Clinic to make an appointment to see our Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Mr Siddiqui. We can discuss the procedure, and your expectations, to help you decide if breast uplift surgery could be the right procedure for you.
Why have a breast mastopexy in Manchester?
There are many reasons why women choose to have breast uplift surgery:
- Post-pregnancy or breastfeeding: The ligaments and tissues that support your breasts can become stretched during pregnancy and your breastfeeding journey. This results in sagging, droopy breasts.
- Weight and body change: If you lose (or gain) large amounts of weight this can change your breast shape and size and can contribute to a loss of elasticity.
- Age and gravity: As you age the effects of gravity can stretch the ligaments and breast tissue, causing a bust to appear droopier.
- Irritated skin: sometimes drooping breasts can cause irritation and chafe to the skin underneath the breasts.
A breast lift surgery reshapes and lifts your
breast tissue for natural-looking, perkier boobs.

How does getting a breast lift in Manchester work?
We understand that getting surgery can be confusing and overwhelming, so here’s a breakdown of what to expect and how a breast lift in Manchester is performed.
Consultation
At your initial consultation, Mr Siddiqui will discuss your expectations and reasons for choosing to have breast surgery. He will conduct a physical examination and outline your treatment options. He will ensure you understand the risks and benefits of cosmetic surgery for a boob lift and advise you on how to prepare for surgery, how he will perform the surgery and what recovery entails.
Pre-surgery
Prior to your procedure, Mr Siddiqui may order pre-operative tests, such as blood tests. He will also make several recommendations based on your medical history that will improve the outcome of your surgery, such as:
- smoking cessation,
- ceasing certain medications or herbal supplements,
- maintaining a healthy weight range,
- arranging for help whilst recovering.
Procedure:
During breast uplift procedures you will be given a general anaesthetic, before your plastic surgeon makes incisions around your areola, down to the breast crease. The surgeon will then lift and reshape the tissue in your breast, remove excess skin and reposition your nipples before closing the incisions.
Recovery:
Most patients will need to take two weeks off work, depending on the type of job they have.
You will most likely have sore and swollen breasts for a few weeks and during this period we advise you to avoid:
- lifting anything heavy
- sexual intercourse
You will have a follow-up appointment at around 6 weeks, after which you can resume regular bodyweight exercises and other activities.

FAQs
Find all the frequently asked questions about breast uplift surgery below. If you can’t

A breast lift, or mastopexy, typically takes between one and three hours to complete. It is performed under a general anaesthetic and you will need to stay in our recovery room until this has worn off.
Usually, mastopexy has no impact on breastfeeding. Women will be able to breastfeed after having breast uplift surgery because this surgery doesn’t affect milk ducts or supply. We do recommend that you aren’t breastfeeding at the time of surgery though.
Any incisions made during breast mastopexy will usually be thin with a strong focus on minimising any scars. Our cosmetic surgeon will position the incisions in areas that are less visible so scarring will be less apparent.
Yes, breast mastopexy scars fade with time. After one year they should be barely noticeable. There are also creams that can be used to help reduce their appearance further.
After a breast mastopexy, your surgeon will advise you to wear a surgical bra for the first 2 days, after that, we recommend wearing a bra without an underwire or a sports bra that buttons at the front. These should be worn even when sleeping. One month after recovery most women can wear whatever bra they feel most comfortable in.
The lifespan of a breast lift depends on many factors such as genetics, age, health, dietary habits, weight loss, surgical techniques, and if it were combined with further surgery like breast augmentation with implants. In some patients, a breast lift can last for over 15 years, whilst other patients may want minor revisions before then.
It is common for women to have breast uplift surgery post-pregnancy, after weight loss or if their breasts lose shape and elasticity due to ageing.
Many patients will have some minor discomfort, which can be well controlled with painkillers. Your breasts will most likely be swollen and bruised for two to six weeks after your operation, during which time you need to wear a surgical bra, a soft bra with no underwire or a sports bra to help minimise discomfort and promote healing.
